Abstract

Fratelli Tutti, an encyclical written by Pope Francis, addresses the themes of fraternity and social friendship, emphasizing the need to recognize, to value and to love all people, regardless of the physical proximity or the place where they were born or live. Individualism, however, is approached as one of the main challenges of contemporary neoliberal society. By reflecting on this issue and its implications for the common good, this article seeks to situate education as a form of overcoming selfish indifference. Based on Charlot (2020), Laval and Vergne (2023) and Benincá (2010), the dialogical education is defended as an essential element for promoting a culture of encounter and a sense of brotherhood.
